ARI King’s Cup officially arrives in South Africa, bringing global football legends, entertainment and a major community-focused sporting event to the Western Cape in February 2027.
The ARI King’s Cup is set to make its mark on the African continent, with the greater Cape Town region preparing to welcome the international football and entertainment event in February 2027.
As featured in the Cape Argus, the newly transformed ARI King’s Cup Stadium in Paarl has been established as the permanent South African home of the tournament. The venue is intended to serve not only as the stage for King’s Cup matches, but also as a hub for community initiatives, grassroots development and sports philanthropy across the Western Cape.
A New Home for King’s Cup in Africa
The transformation of the Paarl venue represents an important milestone in the international growth of King’s Cup.
Under the leadership of Chief Operating Officer Mohamed Saib, the executive team is overseeing the development of the venue, tournament operations and regional outreach initiatives across the Cape Winelands.
South African football icon and 1996 AFCON winner Mark Fish will serve as the event’s official Brand Ambassador, while television personality and model Shashi Naidoo is set to take on the role of Master of Ceremonies.
Eight International Teams Set for Paarl
The South African edition is planned to feature eight international teams:
- Red Rock Royals — Dubai
- Capital Gold Red Devils
- BW Saints — India
- Odisha Kings FC — India
- Clear Water Knights — USA

Legendary Rivalries Return
One of the defining elements of the King’s Cup format is the opportunity to see some of football’s greatest rivalries brought back to the pitch.
The Paarl event is set to feature a clash between Manchester United and Liverpool legends, with Nani, Verón and Antonio Valencia among those representing the Manchester side and Robbie Fowler, Michael Owen and Steve McManaman among the Liverpool contingent.
Another headline encounter is set to revive the spirit of El Clásico, bringing Barcelona icons including Ronaldinho, Xavi and Rivaldo up against Real Madrid greats Marcelo, Fernando Morientes and Míchel Salgado.
More Than Football
The vision for ARI King’s Cup South Africa extends beyond the matches themselves.
The event plans to combine elite football with entertainment through the King’s Guards and ARI HalfTime Show, while the wider programme places significant emphasis on philanthropy and youth development.
Participating football legends are expected to take part in coaching and mentorship clinics for local young people, alongside charitable drives, community-development programmes and initiatives supporting youth sport.
The objective is to use the international reach of football to create an impact that continues well beyond the tournament itself.
The Road to February 2027
With the global spotlight preparing to turn toward Paarl, February 2027 represents a major new chapter for King’s Cup and its expansion into Africa.
The arrival of international football legends, global entertainment and community programmes at the ARI King’s Cup Stadium is set to position Paarl at the centre of a unique celebration of football—one designed to create both memorable moments on the pitch and a lasting legacy away from it.
